Today I went to Welwyn to dance, pretty much like every Thursday. I have to apologise in advance that I am quite tired, sore and not so creative so this post will be short and boring.
Anyway, we started with Balboa week 4. Man, it was HARD! Pretty much impossible even for me! We recapped on jigsteps, come around, basic, etc … and then did a paddle (I think). Imagine like rowing but with your feet … yeah, that’s exactly what caused my feet bowl sore! Just two more weeks and I’m done with Balboa (I hope!).
Had a break and all …
Then the second class started … like always, we did some jazz warm up and then did some more sliding. There was no competition this time unfortunately … so I didn’t win anything this time … 🙁 We mainly did slides on a move which I don’t know the name of but it starts with a handshake (pretty much what you end up with after basic Texas Tommy) and then make followers turn anti-clockwise direction and then you can connect with either hand. We did a handshake again so we could loop through this move. It was 8 beats move. Then we did slides on counts 5-8 and back into rock step and repeat, etc … there are several different slides I can do now. Best part was at the end of the class where we were allowed to do whatever we wanted after count 4 so I did some lambada and macarena moves! So much for sliding lol.
Anyway, had a break for a few songs…
… then we had 2 birthdays in the house! Even I stole the follower! Then we had a cake, coffee, etc … and then we did Jitterbug stroll. Man it was hard (to remember all the steps that is)… but I’ve done this stroll many times … then I had couple more dances before I went home …
It was great but this Balboa is something I don’t like … but now I am already so far past the point-of-no-return that I cannot quit … I won’t!
