Do you know what Walter White and Down for the Count have in common? Extraordinary mixing skills – W.W. mixes chemicals, DftC – notes.
I have been to Bishopsgate venue many times before – mostly for Super Swing Pit – a monthly social event where they always have live bands on. This time, it was Swing Den – monthly social event with main focus on beginners. They don’t always have live bands on. This time, they had. I managed to get to the class which was brilliant – 6 count basics with some variations and then my signature move – crazy legs.
Down for the Count was brilliant as always. Their songs are so hypnotic – you just want to dance when they play, no matter how fast or slow the tempo is. I had a real swungover on Saturday which carried out onto Sunday. I don’t know what is worse – skipping one of their songs to catch the breath or pass out on the dance floor … I blogged about how awesome DftC is so many times that if I got a dime for everytime I said that, I would be a millionaire.
I really enjoyed the atmoshpere. It was truly lovely. There were quite a lot of my friends who I have not danced with in a while. A few of us went to the pub. It was lovely to catch up.
Congratulations: you have made it to the end! To sum it up, it was lovely atmosphere and the band was brilliant. I danced until I almost dropped dead. What more can I ask for? (If you have an answer, politely share in the comments below). Now go and “fan” Lindyverse on Facebook.
Next time you will see me at David McTea & The Swing Magpies gig on Thursday at HideAway bar. Come and say “Hi!” and then let’s dance and have shameless selfies 😀
