4 Beat Lindy Turn And Other Stuff With Club Savoy In Kentish Town

Hi there,

First of all, as always, rants of the day … got fined today … no, not because of  my driving … because of my parking … 🙁 Whole day was quite screwed until 8:30 PM. No, half of the first lesson was not a screw up, I came in late missing the most important thing which then was quite hard to catch up with …

Anyway, I had a hard day in the office today and left around 15~ minutes later than I usually do and then I had horrible traffic on A1 🙁

I could complain more but you don’t give a damn about it right?

/rant.

Anyway, about the class. It was really good, it was not that hard I just find that 4 beat lindy turn a bit weird. It’s like rock step, walk, walk. Pretty much like 6 beat bypass/change places … except the stretch is much much higher! Followers also did lindy circle variation which looks easy … even though I missed it. I believe I could teach my dear followers this variation 😉

We also did a tuck turn variation. I am not sure if it was an actual tuck turn but it starts like first 4 steps of tuck turn indeed. Then instead of raising the arm with compression, you keep arm at the waist (I spelt it correctly right?) level and walk to your right and spin followers in anti-clockwise direction. Spin is quite heavy! We also had a few 6 and 8 beat lindy circles where followers were asked to do the variations so it was quite easy for me as I did not have to do anything fancy or hard … 😀

We had a break and all …

… then beginners lesson started. I cannot comment much about it since I did not learn anything new but if you care what we learned, keep reading. We did basic jokey (with shimmy or simple kicks), tuck turn, bypass with swapping lead’s arm, right-2-right spin, rotation rock step to make followers to do half turn to come back to close (not sure what it’s called but I have done it millions of times), half turn from closed position where leads turn actually (up to beat 4) and then 4 triple steps back (or was it 2?). I, obviously, to show off and what not, always stamped off (not sure if I spelt it right, not sure what’s up with me today) on the last beat and then rock stepped and did a break, waited for a beat, did 3 ass-shakes and stamped off again. Love this stuff.

Had another break for a song … then  I had 2 dances and went home because I am STILL having a hard day in the office … as someone said (you know who you are!), last to come, first to leave 🙁 Sorry I could not dance a lot today …

… and that’s how I finished yet another 4 days in a row dancing marathon … Gonna do it again starting this weekend of course 😉

See you!
